I have a old model railroad craftsman kit made of wood painted in a hideous color. What’s the best way to strip that crud off without ruining the car body detail?
Use the sandpaper .scrub on itthe paint will go ofbut rememberdo not apply to much forceor elsethe details will go outthanku
Slightly rub it using rub paper ,it will remove the color of wooden model
Paint remover and some steel wool.Wear some rubber gloves.
Use the sandpaper .

Sandpaper, paint remover…with sandpaper gently rub it off.
Its time consuming but can be done.
